In 2004 his acting career started when he and his friends founded a satirical theatre group in the city of Wuppertal\, Germany. Since then\, he co-authored and performed five shows with the group and also regularly presents his texts at poetry slams at various venues. In 2009 he published the book “Rufe aus dem Publikum” (Shouts from the audience)\, a collection of his poems and brought his first full-length show “Allein unter Menschen” (Alone among people) on stage. In the same year Michael moved to Berlin\, where he is now studying political and cultural science. Meanwhile he travels all across Germany with his current live show “Dumm nickt gut” (Stupid nods well). The majority of Michael’s texts are rhymed lyrics that combine biting criticism on societal topics with his well-rounded language and expressive skills.\nhttp://michael-feindler.de/ \n20:20\nGeordie Little: “The necessity of sustainable Street Music”.\nSince early 2012\, Geordie has been carving his own niche within the increasingly cluttered world of contemporary finger style guitarists. Originally from Adelaide\, Australia\, Geordie has been travelling between his homeland and Berlin for the past two years\, and since March this year has called the German Capital his home. Geordie’s unique percussive lap and finger style technique has developed out of a will to craft a self-sustainable career as an independent musician.\nEssentially having created his own mix of styles playing on the streets of Adelaide\, Berlin and Edinburgh\, his visual style is a direct representation of what the people around him appreciate the most\, while simultaneously staying true to a very personal musical aesthetic. His involvement in various street scenes around the world during such a time of change within the industry paired with his university background of Business Management and Pure Mathematics\, Geordie has become increasingly interested in the other sides of music. He asks questions such as: How can musicians create a sustainable career in today’s environment? What role do things like street music play in the development of a musician’s career? This has led to him co-founding an advocacy group called Berlin Street Music\, set up to unite and empower musicians around the city and develop an open and transparent dialogue with policy makers in order to work towards creating a sustainable community of musicians within the city.\nhttp://www.geordielittlemusic.com/ \n21:00\nBreak \n21:30\nMirko Schmitt: “Preserving the art of music\, by passing it on to the next generation” (Speech about 10-15 minutes)\nMirko Schmitt started playing drums when he was six. He studied styles such as studio and contemporary drumming\, jazz\, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban rhythms and big band drumming at the Percussion Institute (P.I.T.) in Los Angeles. He was taught by professionals the likes of Joe Porcaro\, Ralph Humphrey (Zappa\, Manhattan Transfer\, Al Jarreau)\, Casey Scheurell and Efraine Torro. Under their tutelage\, he was awarded the accolade of “Best Commercial Drummer”.\nTo expand his horizon\, he traveled to study congas and percussion in Cuba with Louis Abrew of Los Papines where he deepened his understanding of Latin American rhythms for drums and percussion.\nMirko has considerable touring experience\, having played for bands like Imagination\, Snap and The Prodigy\, and the U.S. hip hop queen M.C. Lyte. He’s also had a variety of TV appearances on MTV\, Top of the Pops and the BBC.\nMirko currently manages and teaches at The Planet Drum in Berlin\, a prestigious drum school set in the heart of the city.\nHis goal is to transfer his skills and experience which he has acquired from so many valuable influences to the next generation in order to live the art and joy of music to humanity.\nhttp://www.theplanetdrum.de/index_en.html \n21:45\nBennet Cerven and The Trouble Notes: “Sustainably built music instruments” (Musical Demonstration)\nThe Trouble Notes is an international trio consisting of Bennet Cerven (violin)\, Oliver Maguire (percussion)\, and B-Zy Brain (guitar). The group formed in New York City in late 2012 before embarking on a tour across Europe\, ultimately settling in Berlin.\nThe group’s music has been described as an eclectic fusion of genre spanning the entire musical spectrum\, reaching a wide range of listeners and captivating audiences with their energetic rhythms and style. Over the past year\, The Trouble Notes have performed in a myriad of cities and festivals around the world\, embracing each culture and allowing it to leave its print on their repertoire.\nHaving started at a time where there have been massive shifts in the landscape of the music industry\, The Trouble Notes’ mission was to operate and progress outside of the institutionalized framework of large media conglomerates. Through their tours and travels\, they have built an expanded network of business owners\, media professionals and fellow musicians with a common goal of living from their passion.\nThe group is a part of a growing network of musicians in Berlin who work together to build a new artist platform and carve a path towards a sustainable alternative to the industry status quo.\nhttp://www.thetroublenotes.com
